COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Pornography-Free Libraries:

It is a travesty that the majority of our Public Libraries are allowing inappropriate adult content websites into these institutions.  Even though the technology exists to effectively screen out these objectionable sites, they do not.  Too many of our libraries are responding to the agenda of the ACLU and the American Library Assoc. (ALA).  These are organizations that subscribe to the conviction that no site is worthy of being blocked regardless of the age of the viewer.  It is time we hold our local librarians accountable to responding to the needs of the constituents they serve.

At AFC Group, we have embraced a number of initiatives at the Local, State and Federal level to effect change.  Too many children are being victimized by this unconscionable practice.  Every week I hear of yet another sad story where a child is coming in to contact with a sexual predator or pedophile visiting the local library to get their pornography fix.  We do not allow books on bestiality on the shelves, so why do we have to allow it through this new medium called the internet.

For a more comprehensive enlightenment on this matter, I suggest perusing the web site of librarian Jim Burt at www.filteringfacts.com   AFC is ready to support anyone in whatever way we can that is confronted with this challenge in their local community.

MISSIONARY OUTREACH:

At AFC, we recognize that everything we have is on loan  to us by the Creator.  As a result of this graciousness we are humbled yet honored to be involved in a number of Christian Ministries.  The following are some very inspiring ministries I would personally like to endorse.

Campus Crusades  (www.campuscrusade.com)

Intervarsity Christian Fellowship (www.Gospelcom.net/iv/)

Remember the Children (www.remember-the-children.com)
